The Disconnect
Invisible wounds rarely affect only the mind or only the heart—they affect both.
Military trauma, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), PTSD, grief, and depression can create a disconnect between what we know and what we feel. We may know we are no longer in danger, yet our heart still races. We know we are loved, yet we feel alone. We know healing is possible, yet hope can feel just out of reach.
This artwork reflects that journey.
The cloud represents trauma—not as an ending, but as something that can be crossed. The reaching hands symbolize courage, community, and the willingness to continue moving toward healing. At Awaiting Further Instruction, we believe recovery begins when we acknowledge both the heart and the mind, honoring each person's story with compassion rather than judgment.
Because healing isn't about becoming who you were before trauma.
It's about discovering who you can become after it.
Does not come with frame.
