Our Commitment to Ending the 44

At the heart of Awaiting Further Instruction is a commitment to something deeply personal to the people who created this company:

Ending the 44.

The number represents the veterans we believe are too often lost when pain, isolation, trauma, transition, and a lack of accessible support collide.

For us, this isn't simply a statistic.

It represents real people.

Real families.

Real stories that never got the chance to have a different ending.

Our founders understand what it means to stand in a place where hope can become difficult to see. We don't need to share every part of those experiences publicly to understand why this mission matters so deeply to us.

That perspective shapes everything we do.

We believe that prevention begins long before a crisis.

It begins with connection.

It begins with someone answering the phone.

It begins with knowing where to find help.

It begins with a veteran having someone say:

"I see you. You're not alone. Let's figure this out together."

That's why our give-back model focuses on supporting organizations and local resources that can provide veterans with tangible assistance when they need it most.

Our goal isn't simply to talk about veteran suicide.

Our goal is to help create more reasons for veterans to stay.

More connection.

More resources.

More community.

More opportunities.

More people willing to show up.

More stories that get another chapter.

Why the Number Matters

We use "Ending the 44" as a symbol of our commitment to reducing veteran suicide and ensuring that veterans don't fall through the cracks.

We will never use the number to sensationalize suicide or someone's suffering.

Instead, we use it as a reminder:

Behind every number is a person.

And behind every person are people who love them.

Our mission is to help turn attention into action by supporting organizations that are already providing direct assistance to veterans in our communities.
